CSS Communications Introduces Commercial SPAM Detection
Service
BELLINGHAM,
WA., - July 29th, 2003 – CSS announced the availability of an electronic
mail detection service designed to combat global increases in Unsolicited Bulk
E-mail (UBE), commonly known as SPAM. The service acts as a gateway, in front of
existing e-mail systems, inspecting messages for spam content and bulk mail
tactics.
The
system performs more than 100 tests and communicates with global SPAM listening
posts for up to the minute SPAM tracking.
This increases the reliability of the service and succeeds in catching
more than 90% of SPAM, while providing less than 0.01% incorrect detection. As a message is run through the tests, the
system applies points towards a final grade.
The final grade is then evaluated and the message is categorized. Valid mail is left untouched, while SPAM is
tagged with the number of points applied.
The system then forwards the tagged message to the intended receiver for
final processing. The end user may then
proactively file or delete the SPAM.
“Our
corporate customers needed a solution to the increasing SPAM problem” said Ray Poorman, Chief Technology Officer of
CSS “We are excited to deliver a
solution that can be implemented with little, to no hassle and provide
immediate benefits.”
The
Anti-SPAM service is available to anyone with a valid Internet domain name
(.com, .org, etc) regardless of the Internet Service Provider. The system is compatible with any operating
system, and many mail systems on the market including Microsoft Exchange©,
Novell Groupwise©, Lotus Notes©, Linux Sendmail©
and any other system utilizing standard Simple Mail Transport Protocol
(SMTP). The set up process requires no
change to the companies software or hardware, and can be implemented in just a
few days. Pricing starts at as little as
$25/month.
“Since we added the CSS Anti-SPAM service we
have been able to eliminate the vast majority of SPAM that was clogging our
mailboxes. The amount of time spent on trying to find business related emails
amongst the many SPAM messages was becoming very burdensome and tedious.” said
Jeff Jenkins, Chief Financial Officer of Haskell Corporation “Now our users
have the ability to automatically have the SPAM deleted or filed, it's like
never having received it at all!”
